BIOGRAPHY FUJIO MASUOKA

Biography Of Fujio Masuoka. He was born on May 8, 1943, in the city of Takasaki, Gunma, Japan, he was the inventor of Flash memory. When he was 10, his mother encouraged him to learn Mathematics and hired a private tutor. At the time he was 12, Masuoka successfully mastered the mathematics. In high school, Masuoka concentrated on theory, believes that advances in technology or electronics achieved only through theoretical work. As a result of his studies, Masuoka is also developing a deep understanding of Economics and the law. He holds a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and PhD in electrical engineering from Tohoku University in 1966, 1968 and 1971. Soon after graduation, Masuoka joined Toshiba Research and Development Center in April 1971.

Walking three months in his new job, the boss of Masuoka, Dr. Yoshiyuki Takeishi, shows an Ultraviolet Erasable Memory Intel Masuoka electrically Programmable (UV EEPROM), which was announced a few months earlier. Masuoka then learn technology Intel in two months and find a new structure, a memory type MOS read-only memory that is known by the name of Samos who became the first patent Masuoka in 1972.

Between 1972 and 1984, Masuoka makes significant inroads in other memory, dynamic memory cell couples with double poly-silicon structure. In 1977, he moved to Toshiba's Semiconductor Division, where he developed a 1 Mbit DRAM memory.

Masuoka then transferred to Toshiba memory products division engineering in 1980 to start his work on the development of flash memory. He then shifted to the design engineering of Toshiba's memory Division in 1984, where he perfected and patented a NOR flash memory. He presented his findings at the International Electron Device Meeting (IEDM) in San Francisco. A year later, it evolved into the flash memory 256 Kbit. In April 1987, Masuoka back to Toshiba Research and Development Center, where he began to successfully develop more advanced NAND-type flash memory led flash disk. Although his breakthrough, the flash is not ready for commercialization.

To create and produce pre-fabricated commercial 4 Mbit flash memory chip, Masuoka needed to develop high-tech is projected for a range of circuit patterns on each layer of the microprocessor. But the estimated cost to make such technology is 10 million yen, the Toshiba originally reluctant to invest. Masuoka reassure Toshiba's consumer electronics research executives that the 4 Mbit flash memory chip can be used to feed into consumer digital camera with flash memory that serves as a "digital film". With funding from the Division of consumer electronics, Masuoka continues to develop and present the Flash 4 Mbit NAND-type flash memory on a solid-state Circuit Conference (ISSCC) in New York City in 1989.

In 1994, Masuoka Tohoku University joined where he became Professor for 13 years before being appointed as Professor of the University Research Institute of electrical Communication. For his pioneering work on flash memory, Masuoka has received numerous awards and accolades in Japan including a gift from Japanese Prime Minister Watanabe in 1977 and the National Invention Award in 1980. In 2007, Masuoka was awarded the Medal of Purple Ribbon Emperor Akihito.

Flash is not only growing in size only, but form and function also changes. There is a flash drive which uses a rotary design so we don't have to worry about missing the lid. There is also a rubber coated flash drive so that the waterproof or equipped with carabineer clip so that it is easily hung. Has even created a flash drive shaped credit card model. His name is wallet-friendly USB. Its size is only 86 x 54 x 1.9 mm. So, it can be stored safely in your wallet.

For security issues, owned flash drives are currently limited to protect the data from being accessible by a person who is not the owner. The workings of the current used among other things to use full disk encryption or physical authentication tokens. The latest system is being introduced in the middle of the year 2005 is a biometric fingerprinting. However, the method of securities is very expensive due to the use of high technology in fact exploiting flash drive has been developed for a variety of things. For example, in an article outlined the steps to download the settings the flash drive to boot Windows XP. The main terms were indeed motherboard and BIOS of our computers can support booting from flash drive management.
